A magic ring serves as the starting point for many parts of this amigurumi. I have two short video tutorials that will show you two different ways to make a magic ring. Choose the option that is most convenient for you.

How to read the rows: Place a marker at the end of row 2 and move it each time a row is completed. Each row has a unique sequence.

1sc then 2sc in next st, for example, means repeat that sequence 1sc then 2sc in next st, followed by 1sc then 2sc in next st until the row is finished.

When you land on the marker, you should do 2sc. The number enclosed in parentheses () represents the number of stitches you should have at the end of that row.

Introduction with a supply list

R1 TAIL: 6 sc in magic ring (6)

R2-21: [Sc] x6 (6)

Finish with a long tail for sewing.

Bend the end of your floral wire so that there is no sharp tip poking through the end of the tail. Insert the wire into the tail and trim it so that it sticks out about 1/2 inch from the bottom. Bend the tail to your liking. This can always be changed after it has been attached.

Because my piece is so small, I chose not to stuff the tail. If you use a heavier weight yarn, you may want to stuff it lightly.

FLOWER (start in yellow)

5 sc in magic ring, R1. To join, change to white in the last sc and sl st to the first sc (5)

R2: Ch 2 (counts as first dc), 3 dc in same st, and finish pc as usual. Pc in each stitch all the way around. To join, sl st to the back of the first ch 2. (5 pc petals)

Finish with a long tail for sewing.

• Sew the head to the body during assembly. The front of the body should rest on R12 of the head.

• On R14, sew the arms to either side of the body.

·       • In a sitting position, sew the legs to either side of the body. The back of the leg should match the back of the arm.

• Sew the ears to the head on either side between R13 and R14. Place the top of the ear slightly higher than the eyes.

·    • Insert the wire protruding from the tail into the back of the body. You'll want to make sure your finished monkey sits flat. Sew the tail to the body and adjust as needed so that the base of the tail provides support so she can sit on her own.

• Over R12, sew the flower to the side of the head.
